Photoshop: Handle is Invalid

Here's one that doesn't come up every day: if you upgrade your computer to Windows XP Professional and find Adobe Photoshop 7 stops working and gives you a "Handle is Invalid" error message, check to see if you have a Wacom tablet driver installed. If so, delete it and you'll be all set.

If you go to the Wacom website and update the latest driver; this will also fix the problem and you don't have to go through the trouble of uninstalling drivers :)

hey,
I have been battling this for a few hours and figured it out. I upgraded to XP and my photoshop stopped working and so did my photoimpact program. the problem is with the WACOM tablet drivers. Since i upgraded i also lost the uninstall program, so i had to seek out all the drivers manually.

first i went to reg edit and removed all entries that had anything to do with wacom.

next i got out my old cd rom for wacom and went to the sys directory to get an exact listing of the files that were installed on the machine. i went searched the computer and removed all the files that are listed on the wacom install cd.

the reason for this is that wacom doe have new xp drivers but they will not install untill you remove all the old stuff first.

i run ran the new install from wacom and now photoshop works and so does photoimpact - it only took 3 hours to figures out. hope this helps ya
